Bees win Presidents Cup

Brentford fielded a mixture of first teamers and youth players last night at Gander Green Lane - against a Sutton side which also had numerous new faces.

Brentford's superior fire power won them the match with goals from the lively Moses Ademola, Nathan Elder and Leon Legge - before The U's scored an unchallenged consolation goal from a corner amidst some late pressure.

Elder sustained a hefty aerial challenge in the first half which left him in a heap needing assistance, but it was good to see the big striker pick himself back up and get on with the game - and could possibly play a healthy part in his mental attitude following his horrific facial injury last season.

Brentford's triallists last night included Sutton's own Bentley Graham, plus midfielder James Simmonds and keeper Billy Lumley (both recently with the Glenn Hoddle academy in Spain). A Simon Moore played in goal for the majority of the game before picking up an injury - think he may be from Farnborough Town.

Sutton fans were keen to ask about Charlie Ide - who has just signed for local rivals Carshalton, and Andy Scott commented after the game that the club were monitoring with interest the news that Michael Turner might be a target for some Premiership teams including Everton - as Brentford have a sell-on clause for the Hull Centre Back.

Starting Bees - Moore, Farrell, Legge, Franks, Bush, Williams, Graham, Simmonds, Allen, Elder, Ademola.

Subs used - Lumley, Butt, Pitt, Vassell

Attendance 417 (probably 80 odd Bees)
