Bees go dutch on defence
Brentford have signed Ipswich centre back Pim Balkestein on a month's loan deal
The versatile 22 year old defender, who can also fill in at left back, joined Ipswich for £180,000 from SC Heerenveen over the summer of 2008. He was voted 'most improved player' at the Suffolk club last season - which was always the award you tried to avoid in junior football
Pim joins a plethora of centre halves at the club and will battle the likes of James Wilson, Alan Bennett, Leon Legge and Karleigh Osborne for a starting berth. Mark Phillips is currently injured.
Elsewhere Andy Scott has mooted that he is looking to bring in another loanee goalkeeper - Nikki Bull is currently injured - and was reportedly seen speaking to Ben Hamer at last week's game against Millwall. Which could, of course, mean nothing.
