Bees manager Andy Scott, speaking after the FA cup win over Walsall, made it clear that he plans further squad changes in January.
Scotty admitted 'Some players I have brought in or who did very well in League Two have not stepped up to the mark this year. We`re all working as hard as we can to make that better'
He continued 'There will be changes in January. The lads have got five weeks to show me that they want to be here and deserve to be here. We`re not where we want to be in the league. We have to accept that I`ve made mistakes in recruiting players and some players who have come in have not performed to the level that I and they hoped they would.'
'So there will be changes in January. I did it when I took over and made harsh decisions on some players, but I did it with a reason and I know exactly how we need to play now. It has taken a while to bed things in but the players that we need to improve in this league we need to get into the football club, and if people need to leave to do that then they will.'
Strong words indeed from the Brentford boss, but performaces this season have generally left the fans undersatisfied, with many players failing to make a positive impact on the team.
Infact it's fair to say that the strong bond that was there between the players and the fans last season has pretty well evaporated as few of the team have managed to impress on a regular basis.
It's unclear exactly who Andy is looking to shift onwards to other clubs but a number of players must currently be looking over their shoulders - including some relative big names such as Alan Bennett, Sam Saunders and Cleveland Taylor.
One player who appears to have little future at the club is Steve Kabba - who joined Burton on a month's loan this week - but is contracted at Brentford until the end of the season.
Scotty admitted today : 'He hasn`t performed as I hoped he would have done, either in the reserve games or in training.'
