Diamonds are Forever

Uwe Rosler confirmed at last night's fans forum that his preferred system this season would be the diamond formation which appeared towards the end of last season.

He hinted that a player would be signing on loan today and that we are still chasing striker Paul Hayes from Charlton. It also sounded like he plans to bring in another central midfielder who can play box to box. Myles Weston is our third choice striker for now.

Jake Bidwell will be held back at Everton until the end of the transfer window but may yet be allowed out on loan. Peter Farrell spoke to Uwe last week and suggested he included 16 year old Michael Onivwigun in his first team training. Jake Reeves is now considered a first team squad member and Uwe expect Stuart Dallas to break into first team reckoning in about 6/7 months.

The Griffin Park pitch has apparently been widened over the summer (not sure how this works with a diamond formation....) and Carlsberg/Tetley will be our new brewing partner around the ground this season.

Naming rights for the new Lionel Road stadium are set to be sold in order to part finance it and a hotel and conference facilities will be included in planning proposals. Brian Burgess suggested that the club are keen to include safe standing areas within the ground.

The appalling state of the club website was largely blamed on the developers (to be fair Brentford have improved the images etc this week) and the white backed shirts were apparently brought in because you can read the numbers better. Genius. Just like the dugouts now make it easier to give instructions to a left back.

Finally Gary Alexander was 'tapped up' and Uwe doesn't like to do business in that manner. Expect a warm welcome back to Griffin Park for Gaz and his Crawley colleagues later in the season.
