Hayes Day

Attacker Paul Hayes has today signed for Brentford from Charlton.

The striker - who Uwe Rosler has been tracking all summer - should complete terms on his three year deal in time to feature in tomorrow's squad v Yeovil.

Charlton have confirmed on their Official Site that Hayes left on a free transfer.

Hayes scored 6 goals in 6 games in League One for relegated Wycombe last season and is regarded as an intelligent footballer. He was a cult figure at Scunthorpe and has also played for Norwich, Barnsley, Huddersfield and PNE. He is now 28 and will wear the number 23 shirt for The Bees.

Uwe Rosler commented somewhat cryptically on the Brentford OS that "Without Paul`s commitment and desire to want to play for Brentford, the deal would not have happened" which possibly suggests that Hayes chose a three year deal and regular football against a higher wage or payoff. But that's pure speculation from us.
