Character & Fight Delights Warburton
Manager Mark Warburton couldn't have been happier with the lads yesterday as they battled back from a goal behind to take a point against Birmingham who had a man advantage.
Brentford were reduced to ten men after only 15 minutes when Tony Craig was deemed to have denied Clayton Donaldson a goal scoring opportunity, and the resulting penalty was scored which made it a tough ask to get something from the game, but that's exactly what the players did.
Speaking to the Official Site Warburton hailed a 'fantastic' performance and comeback from the players.
'The players showed tremendous characters, I'm full of praise for them. They are shattered, they worked their socks off, all the old sayings are true and we dominated the second half. We had energy all over the park, the defenders stood up and did their job, in midfielder we had some tremendous performances. We were threatening and dangerous - credit to the players, they were fantastic.'
Warburton said knowing the threats that Birmingham have, and their direct style, we wanted to impose our game on them, but as the first half drew on he felt we got 'dragged in to the emotion' of the match with us being a man and a goal down, but there was a good chat at half time, the players regrouped, and we got back to our plan and ultimately it paid dividends for us by the end of the second period.
