Forshaw To Wigan On

Brentford have today confirmed that midfielder Adam Forshaw is now free to speak to Wigan Athletic after the club accepted an undisclosed offer.

The 22 year old has been subject to a lot of speculation so far this summer, and Brentford have dismissed earlier bids by the club, but they have now met our valuation.

The player has travelled north today to discuss personal terms with a view to a medical, and manager Mark Warburton told the Official Site.

'We have stipulated from the outset that any deal involved our players will be done on our terms. A valuation was given and not met, hence the delay in proceedings. Now that our valuation has been met we have given permission to Adam to meet and talk with Wigan.'

Warburton goes on to say that Brentford had no need to sell Adam and were certainly not going to be dictated to by any interested club when it comes to our valuations of players, and nor by any individuals concerned.

Adding.

'Why was Adam not considered for games thus far? Again, as we have clearly stated, we will only look to players who are absolutly committed to the Brentford cause and such events can only distract a young player and negatively impact his contribution.'

The manager finishes by saying now that the matter is almost done, he wishes Adam the very best for his future now and he thanks him for his 'outstanding efforts' in our shirt over the last two seasons.
