Coote One For The Brentford Future

Coote One For The Brentford Future

Recently, Brentford announced the arrival, on a three year deal, of Dundee United's Ali Coote. He will initially link up with the Bees' B team.

Having already gained first team experience at Dundee United, starting three Scottish Championship games and making 16 appearances in total, bagging a couple of goals, Coote will now look to do the same at Griffin Park.

Commenting previously, quoted by Sky Sports, praised by his then Dundee United boss, Ray McKinnon said: 'Ali is just 18 but comes into the team and does a good job. Each time he comes in he does well. He takes his chance when he`s given it and that`s important.'

Dundee United failed to secure a return to the Scottish Premiership last season, losing out in the play-offs, which may well have been the deciding factor for Coote, 19, to leave Tannadice Park, joining the Tangerines in 2014.

An undisclosed fee was paid to Dundee United for the midfielder who will, most likely, spend the upcoming season in the Brentford B side playing regularly whilst looking to catch the eye of Bees boss Dean Smith.

Brentford Head of Football Operations Robert Rowan told the Official Website: 'Ali is a player we`ve tracked for quite some time up in Scotland and, like Theo, he`s a player I`ve known from previous roles. He`s an attacking player who`s probably best played as a number ten but can play on the left side. He`s an intelligent player with a good level of technical skills whom I`m confident will fit into our group of players.'

Adding: 'I think it`s important that Ali makes the most of his time at the Training Ground and uses the resources provided to him by the technical staff to accelerate his development. I had a good chat with Ali and his Dad on Tuesday and I think everyone agrees that his first objective is to break into the Starting XI with Brentford B and then get some recognition at international level. Ali will report tomorrow for the first day of pre-season training where he and his team mates will undergo some intense conditioning in preparation for an exciting year ahead.'
