Bonham Deal Extension & Carlisle Loan
Jack Bonham has signed a contract extension but the Brentford goalkeeper will spent the first half of next season on loan at League Two side Carlisle.
As expected, Bonham's immediate future will be away from Griffin Park, a lack of first team opportunities at Brentford saw it made clear by boss Dean Smith last week he was seeking to send the keeper out on loan.
Bonham has now joined Carlisle on a half-season, six month, loan deal. But not before a new one year extension was signed, keeping him under contract to the Bees until the summer of 2019.
Smith told the Official Website: 'We all believe that Jack has great potential. But to fulfil this potential he needs to play matches. Carlisle will give him a wonderful chance to do this.'
Arriving at Brentford in 2013, which came a few days after he made his Watford debut, that after a previous trial, Bonham, a regular in the matchday squads, has so far managed seven first team appearances for the Bees.
The signing of Luke Daniels on a free transfer from Scunthorpe would have pushed Bonham out of the first team picture, Daniels and last season's number one Dan Bentley will now battle for the gloves at Brentford.
