First Of Many - Shaibu
Justin Shaibu has been reflecting on the League Cup victory over Wimbledon and he hopes his first senior goal is the start of many more to come across his career.
Having hit the winner on the day in the three one victory on Tuesday evening, the 19 year old youth prospect couldn't have been more thrilled to find the net and book our place in the second round draw.
Speaking to the Official Site to review the game and give his thoughts, he explained.
'Finally I got my first goal so I am very, very happy. I can`t even explain what the feeling was like. All this energy came out of my body and I am very, very happy right now. I had a good feeling: I felt like I hit it really well but I had to wait and see. When it hit the back of the net I was very happy. The supporters have been very good to me so finally I can give something back to them. Hopefully this will be the first of many.'
With the hosts taking the lead in the game, Romaine Sawyers' equaliser sent the match into extra time and Ollie Watkins opened his club account ahead of Shaibu's strike and he went on to say.
'It was good to help the team settle after the goal and then cruise to the win. We definitely deserved the win. The boys were very good today, especially after the first-half, and we deserved it.'
Having joined our B Team just over a year ago, scoring ten times in 18 appearances for Kevin O'Connor's squad, he did make his professional bow last season in the EFL Cup tie against Exeter, and he made four further substitute showings in the Championship, so he's loving life in the first team at the moment.
'It was a very hard pre-season for me as it is the first pre-season I have had without injuries. I have got to know my body a lot better so it has been very good, as well as hard. I have learned a lot. Lasse Vibe has been very good to me, helping me with positioning and lots of other things.'
