Brentford Youngster Hoping For More Chances
Greek fullback Ilias Chatzitheodoridis has reflected on his Brentford debut and he's hoping for more first team action this season as you'd expect.
The 19 year old youngster started our EFL Cup tie against Wimbledon and played all 90 minutes in the three one victory, and he was speaking to the Official Site not only was he hoping for the call from Dean Smith again in the near future, he also had words of praise for how his colleagues helped him through the match.
'It was a great feeling. It was a very good experience, and to be in the starting 11 was very good. Of course, I see the difference very clearly now between the B Team and the First Team. For my first game with the First Team to be 90 minutes was very pleasing.'
Lining up alongside Yoann Barbet and behind Ollie Watkins who took up the left wing position, he also thanked them for talking him through the game.
'They made me feel comfortable, they gave me advice before the game as well to not have any stress, just be comfortable in the game. They told me to just treat it like I was playing with them at the training ground. It's very good for me because hopefully I will get a chance in the next game, I'm very happy about it and it was a very good result.'
As for his B Team progress this year, he went on to say.
'Pre-season was very good, we went to Budapest and played two games there. The new boys came in and look very good, the level of the B Team is higher now. We can all see that. We are unbeaten in all of our games up to now, so the level is clearly high and for us that can only be good.'
Having already targeted his debut for this year, having achieved that aim he's now setting his sights higher.
'My goal now is now to be more with the First Team. I think now I will get more opportunities to train with them and maybe get a few games like the one in the cup. It's a very good challenge for me now. Tom Field is on loan so it's me and Rico. It's up to me to show the boys they can trust me and give me the chance to play more games with them in the First Team.'
