Reactions - Wolves v Brentford (3/1/18)

Following yesterday's clash between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Wolverhampton Wanderers hosted Brentford at the Molineux on Tuesday January 2, with the hosts taking a three nil victory on the night to go 12 points clear at the top of the Championship table.

After a wasteful first half, Wolves took the lead just ahead of the hour mark in the game following a set piece from Ruben Neves, but two minutes later they doubled their advantage through Barry Douglas. Diogo Jota again a third with ten minutes remaining in the match.

Brentford will be naturally disappointed as their own three match winning run over the festive period came to an end.

Ruddy, Bennett, Coady, Boly (Hause 83), Doherty, Saiss, Neves, Douglas,
Costa (Cavaleiro 54), Bonatini, Jota (Enobakhare 81).

N'Diaye, Gibbs-White, Vinagre, Norris.

Bentley, Yennaris, Mepham, Bjelland, Barbet (Clarke 78), Woods, Mokotjo, Canos (Jozefzoon 64), Sawyers, Watkins, Vibe (Maupay 71).

MacLeod, McEachran, Camargo Hansen, Daniels.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Andy Madley blew the final whistle, Wolves head coach Nuno Espirito Santo explained.

'It was a tough game against a tough side and we had to wait for the goals to come. We had some good chances in the first half and their goalkeeper made some good saves. These guys have played a lot of games but we worked hard and keeping our shape was very important.'

Brentford head coach Dean Smith in his comparative interview explained.

'They pulled Costa off and then could put Cavaleiro on. That's what you can do when you have £40m to spend. They should make a difference. Dan Bentley's pulled off some very good saves to keep it at 0-0 and I was almost surprised to see the free-kick go in as he very rarely gets beaten from that distance. They showed their class in the way they finished. But, in the end, it was the manner of the way we conceded that disappointed me.'
