Instant Reactions - Leeds v Brentford (24/2/18)

Following today's clash between Leeds United and Brentford, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Leeds United hosted Brentford at Elland Road for a 3pm kick off on Saturday February 24, with the hosts taking a narrow one nil victory courtesy of a Liam Cooper effort just after the half hour mark.

The three points ended Leeds' ten match winless run and was the first win under new head coach Paul Heckingbottom, but Brentford suffer a hiccup in their own Play Off hopes.

Wiedwald, Berardi, Jansson, Cooper, Anita, O'Kane, Phillips, Dallas (Sacko 83), Saiz (Vieira 90+4), Alioski, Lasogga (Ekuban 74).

Pennington, Cibicki, Peacock-Farrell, Denton.

Bentley, Dalsgaard, Egan, Bjelland, Barbet, Woods, Sawyers (Judge 69), Jozefzoon, Mokotjo (Marcondes 69), Watkins (Canos 59), Maupay.

McEachran, Clarke, Daniels, Mepham.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Oliver Langford blew the final whistle, Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom explained.

'It's good to have the first win, it is a reward for the hard work of the players. There are lots of positives to take from the performance. Lots of organisation goes into it and to be successful in this league you have to be able to defend and stop teams as well as hurt teams. We had chances to get the second and close the game out and that is an area where we will need to be better.'

Brentford head coach Dean Smith in his comparative interview explained.

'It looked like it was going to be one way traffic, but then the Leeds goal comes from an offside position. We should have had a penalty when Neal Maupay gets thrown to the ground. You want the big decisions to go your way, but they didn't today. We were too sloppy on the ball and the subs didn't work today. We were very poor on the ball, certainly in the second half.'
