| This is an old fave but.....given the current squad which one player from any Bees era would you draught in to improve the current team? The question here isn't who was our best player...it's who represents the thing we need that you feel is currently lacking. For example you may feel we need a proven goal scorer so Dean Holdsworth would be great. Or you might think our defence needs a little more steel and the introduction of Big Tel would not go amiss.
For me I'd go for Paul Evans. My feeling is we have the talent in thwe squad but what we lack is an experienced head to take the game by the cruff of the neck when we are 1-0 down.
Who would you go for? |

|
| Jordan Rhodes or Deano might just see us home... Andy Sinton or Tabby would be an improvement on McGinn..... |

Stan Bowles Posts: 1022 | Neil Smillie. He would improve any team we've ever had, let alone this one. When he got the ball on the half way line and turned the whole crowd went wooooo! |

| Sir Bobby Taylor........for obvious reasons.
Stevie Hunt remains one of my favourite wingers, and worked a damned sight harder than McGinn.
I know I might get slagged for it, but Rowlands in the centre of the park for his creativity.

| I would have Keith Jones in any Brentford squad. One of my all time favorite Bees players. |

Get outta town.....he was excellent for us in my opinion. |

Otherwise Peter Gelson to resolve unclear situations in front of goal and Ollie Mansley to stick 'em in at the other end... aaaaah, those were the days |

Gotta be Andy McCulloch for goalscoring reliability and robust determination (or is my memory playing tricks with me... after all, it's a long time ago)?
By the way, I'm exiled in Germany and haven't seen a game for a while, so you'll have to do my shouting for me. Used to stand halfway up the terrace opposite the (old) tunnel on the other side of the ground before the Braemar Road stand burned down, so anyone in that area - you know what to do. COME ON YOU BEEEEES!! |

| John O'Mara for me. Added so much excitment to every attack and his goals could certainly help us get over the line. I have such fond memories of those 4 - 0, 5 - 0, and 6 - 0 wins!! |

|
| Leicester - Rowlands has played most of his career wide. He can play in the centre but arguably isn't at his best there.
Agree however that he was great for us, the judas **** |

Having my second go I have to agree and say Big John would possibly still scare a few defences today - possibly not because of his ball skills though! |

If memory serves me well, the times he did play in the centre of the park was more often than not?!?! Maybe my early onset is kicking in, but I can remember writing reports on him about how he was the complete midfielder, as he pulled the strings in the middle of the park, as he could dribble, pass, had vision, could tackle well, and so on.......I can distinctly remember him playing against Reading and bossed the game from the centre of the park throughout the game.
At least, I hope that my memory is right, as it wasn't all that long ago! Still, if I'm wrong, then I'm go for Tabby (and yes, I know he genuinely did play out wide alot, but he was brilliant and running at defenders through the centre of the park, something we seriously lack ). |

| I agree with the BEEF Niel Smillie would improve the team but there again What about Jackie Graham , Sinton, Stan the Man , Hurlock in midfield or Peter Gelson at center back or Steve Phillips up front The list could go on for ages really |

| Welcome Exiled. A fair few expat bees on here, and judging by your choice of Gelson and Mansley, you're around the same age as most of us! |
|
| |
|
| The bald head , false teeth ,the ratling of pills and the pack of Viagra in jacket pocket do give him away a bit as well! But have to say Mansley was great befor getting injured but never really got back to his best after ! |
