A shame if true. Seemed like a very good lad. Uwe never seemed to trust him. If being turned inside out by Jordan Rhodes was the reason to fire him, then there could be a number of centre-halves on the scrapheap...

Very disappointed.

I really hoped Marcel was going to turn out to be a bit of a cult hero at GP.

None of us see him in training every day and we don't know what Uwe has planned, but he seemed to be getting to grips with the change of culture and I can't help feeling he should have had a better chance.

A real shame, though unsurprising. From what I saw this season, I felt we missed his composure in defence during some of the games and he should have had a better chance.

Admittedly, I'm also biased in his favour due to the great and unusually intellectual interviews, as well as the welcome presence of St. Pauli fans at GP this season.
