Myles better than Carlisle
16th Jan, 3pm
Myles Weston scored another brace against Carlisle as Brentford edged a decent, if frenetic, game at Griffin Park.
Weston's first came after a great run and centre from Charlie Mac - arguably against the run of play in a tight first half.
He doubled the Brentford lead with a 15 yard drive after visting keeper Collin parried a Bostock shot.
Carlisle were handed a lifeline when the referee - who was miles behind play - unjustly awarded a penalty after an excellent tackle from Leon Legge on Scott Dobbie.
Ian Harte netted the spot kick and then, somewhat strangely, gave it the big one in front of the Ealing Road. So it served the failing veteran right when Brentford regained their two goal advantage via Ryan Dickson.
Carlisle's Offiong was lucky to escape a sending off after an ill-advised shoulder barge on Roger Chesney - who was again excellent in the Brentford goal, pulling off one wonder save from close range in the second half.
All in all a good three points after the enforced snow break.
Brentford's next opponents are Doncaster on Tuesday night in the FA Cup.
Bees - Szczesny, Foster, Legge, Smith, Dickson, Bostock (Wood), Bean, O'Connor, Weston, Macdonald, Strevens.
