Brentford beaten by canny Canaries

Ten man Norwich beat Brentford this afternoon to move top of League One and end the Bee's five game unbeaten league run.

The decisive goal came in the 77th minute when Chris Martin finished from a smart Oli Johnson pass shortly after Brentford had hit a post at the other end of the pitch.

Norwich has seen plump striker Grant Holt sent off in the first half for a crude challenge on new Brentford loan signing Toumani Diagouraga.

In truth Norwich could have been comfortably ahead at half-time but Bees keeper Szczesny again saved the day with some amazing saves - and continuing in similar vein with a stunning close range stop from Drury after the break.

Brentford also had their chances, home keeper Forster making a good stop from Tommy Smith and Myles Weston missing the target with the goal beckoning after Forster spilt a Kevin O'Connor drive.

Despite the result this was a pulsating end to end encounter and, red card aside, a good advertisement for League One football.

Brentford are back in action on Tuesday night where they face Southampton at Griffin Park.

Bees - Szczesny, Foster, Smith, Legge, Dickson, Wood, Bean, Kev, Diagouraga (Cort), Macdonald, Weston

Unused subs - Price, Phillips, Bennett, Bostock, Strevens, Hunt

Got to be disappointed that you couldn't make the most of the player advantage? A draw would have been a good result.
