Craig Pead

Nickname

Peado

Position

Right Back, Centre Mid

Pen Pic

Craig was signed in the summer of 2007 having been released by Walsall who were promoted from League Two to League One. Craig was named in the PFA team of the year that season, and had previously won England U21 caps when at Coventry, so most fans were excited by his signing.

Sadly though, Craig wasn't really all that good. He injured himself in a stiff tackle at the end of a slightly overoptimistic run at Hampton FC pre-season and never really seemed to recover.

Played most of his games at right back or central midfield but never really looked entirely comfortable - particularly not when Brentford lost 7-0 away at Peterborough under Terry Butcher.

In bizarre fashion, Pead was again named in the PFA team of the year for the second season running, despite not even being one of Brentford's best three right backs. Some put this down to some hoax voting by his former colleagues who were now at Peterborough.

Craig retired from the professional game at the end of 2009 due to persistent injury problems.
Has possibly the world's worst ever nickname - Peado.
