Holloway - who went on to be a colourful manager at clubs such as QPR and Blackpool - joined Brentford from "the Crazy Gang" in the summer of 1986.

In truth he was pretty rubbish at Brentford, scoring twice in 36 appearances and looking pretty lethargic during his time at the club. His manager at the time Steve Perryman later admitted that the midfielder - who later played many times for Bristol Rovers and QPR - had glandular fever whilst at Griffin Park.

He told The Sun newspaper "I was the one that made the decision to allow him to move. The fans did not think highly of him because they did not know how ill he was. He wanted to do so well but was just so lethargic."
